One Network enables multi-enterprise shared data and business processes on a single platform.

Supply Chain Capabilities

One Network enables multi-enterprise shared data and business processes on a single platform.

In this age of the globally connected world, every enterprise is part of a larger network,

  1. Demand Networks - Buyer of services and products, channels, distribution, value added resellers (VARs), Retailers, downstream partners -  internal and external parties and enterprises; and,
  2. Supply Networks - trading partners that are involved with the design, source, make, move, and deliver aspects, upstream partners - internal and external parties and enterprises.

And every enterprise has to reckon with: demand variability, supply variability, and lead times.  Lead time is largely comprised of physical and system latencies. One Network eliminates the system latencies - improving responsiveness while dramatically cutting costs.

One Network capabilities

  1. Create a single shared process with appropriate permissions, across the parties and enterprises such that everyone has near real time visibility. One Network solutions cut down the traditional information latencies which amplifies the effects of demand and supply variability.

“A new architecture is required for more complex and interactive multi-enterprise business processes. The data model and process model are very different from enterprise-centric architectures.”
    Gartner

    Additional capabilities include:

  2. What if you could get the actual demand signal and backward calculate its aggregate effect at every level, netting available on-hand and in-transit inventories? And as you have supply problems, what if you can forward project them so that you don’t sell what you can’t make?

Continuous Planning and Execution – Continuously poll the value chain to take into account the latest variations in supply and demand, prepare the appropriate parties with visibility into these issues, and arrive at optimal workarounds, while incrementally re-planning only the items with issues.

  3. The relationship across demand and supply partners is fluid - much like social networking - always changing. What if the business process could adapt as quickly and easily?

Sense and Respond Advantage - With One Network’s proprietary Sense and Respond technology, customers are not only able to asynchronously re-plan when changes occur, they are able to execute on the changes. The concept is simple – as the solution senses change – example an order commitment changes – it responds with an updated transportation plan or execution. The key is your supply chain can pro-actively re-act to changes prior to and during execution as opposed to re-acting after a supply chain violation has occurred.

  4. Lastly, since most of your trading partners are on the network, what if you could connect just once and continue to keep up with the “changes” without skipping a beat?

Network effect – This is one of the shortcomings of the ERP systems and the power of being on the Network. One Network provides a unique and complimentary solution to extend your enterprise into your trading partners.

Modular Adoption - One Network’s Solutions are built on an “embrace” not replace architecture allowing customers the flexibility to deploy capabilities in a modular approach. For example, if a company has already deployed a transportation management solution, it can still take advantage of One Network’s Appointment Scheduling module. Additionally, companies can take an iterative approach deploying items like transportation execution, planning, and appointment scheduling in a tiered approach versus a “big-bang” logistics approach.

In a nutshell, that is what One Network allows each enterprise to achieve.  It is complimentary to the existing infrastructure like the ERP, APS, B2B messages, etc.

“The tensions between flexibility, efficiency, and the need to focus on flexible business processes force a new convergence of the roles of the business managers, CIOs, and chief technology officers.”

One Network Delivery Methods and Solutions

One Network recognizes that a lot of effort and money has been expended especially into the traditional enterprise-centric systems and also most of the bandwidth of the IT staff is consumed by the run-and-maintain aspects. This leaves precious little bandwidth to add further business value, so our primary method is to deliver these solutions as Software-as-a-Service or SaaS. SaaS in an on-demand paradigm of IT solutions delivery that allows for trial before usage, pay for what you use, and rapid value with minimal IT hassles. According to an Aberdeen study - SaaS can provide capabilities similar to traditional implementation with up to 40% lower costs! Along with the hosted network SaaS approach, One Network also provides a traditional on-premise deployment. One Network provides solutions in a number of various areas each of which is largely a plug-and-play with the current infrastructure.

One Network has developed multi-party solutions using its Platform (Refer to the Platform technical paper for more details) for:

  1. Data Management
  2. Transactions and Execution Management
  3. Continuous planning and execution

Solutions with SaaS and PaaS

The power of One Network platform is such that anyone – any Enterprise, 3rd party, or One Network can develop such solutions using the Platform-as-a-Service or PaaS paradigm. The concept is similar to applications on iPhone, Facebook, or Force.com. The differences being that instead of dealing with generic apps, here the applications have to content with multi-enterprise supply chain business processes and preserving the sanctity of multi-party transactions and data models.

“One Network has built a strong SOA and BPP technology platform with Software Development Kit (SDK), that allows them to rapidly compose new capabilities on and around its core solutions either as part of its development plans or by any 3rd party or specifically for customers in an innovation partner model.”

Dwight Klappich
Gartner

Working with leading edge Customers, One Network has developed solutions in the following areas. Each of the solution is available on the network as a service.  You don’t have to implement the entire solution, rather you “mash-up” the relevant SaaS with your enterprise process such that you can extend into your trading partner value network.  This allows you to simplify the truly end-to-end supply chain while making it much more responsive and dramatically reducing costs.  The areas include the solutions listed below.
